Nicole Singer’s Seek is an experimental piece that plays with the idea of distortion and disguise. Using acrylic’s natural reaction to heat, the brooch has the ability to effect how we look at objects of different perceived values, while the secret storage container holds anything the wearer desires. The perception of value is very prominent with in the world of jewellery and art. Natural gemstones are more desirable than synthetic and diamonds, trump all. Seek mixes all those together to create art worth more than the sum of it’s parts.
Nicole Singer grew up in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She received a Bachelors in Fine Arts from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University in Halifax, Nova Scotia in April 2017. She graduated with a major in jewellery and metal smithing and a minor in art history.
Nicole is currently studying to become a Graduate Gemologist through the Canadian Gemological Association and Gem A.
