My great grandma Janice Coleman was a caretaker, a card player, a peanut brittle maker, an Avon lady, the first generation from German immigrant parents, and a god-fearing woman. I hold reverence for this woman. Her story was not perfect, it was littered with the mistakes of those around her but she was always kind, exceptionally kind. I found this picture after she died. The illusion of a halo fitted her and I saw the generations of woman in our family in her expression. She was the mother to my grandmother, my mother and in some small part my sisters and I. Janice Coleman is our darling mother.
