Artists Statement: 

Within the Conduit Series, organic motifs are redefined as two-dimensional graphics of pure gold foil embedded into a chiseled steel surface. The contrast between a volumetric, yet understated support and a linear expression of energy serves as a metaphor of interactive transformation.

Artist Biography:

Lynn Cool received an MFA in Metalsmithing & Jewelry from Kansas State University and a BFA in Design from The University of Kansas. She currently teaches as an adjunct faculty instructor of Jewelry and Metalsmithing at The University of Kansas, in Lawrence, Kansas and maintains a home studio. In addition to freelancing as a critical writer for Metalsmith magazine, Cool has received recognition for her artwork, exhibiting in online and physical venues such as SNAG’s “The Body Adorned,” the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art in Overland Park, Kansas, SOFA Chicago, Illinois, the National Ornamental Metal Museum in Memphis, Tennessee, and the Ostholstein Museum in Eutin, Germany.
