I love patterns and forms found in decorative arts, architecture and antiquities from around the world. The Japanese wave motif, the art nouveau whiplash curve and the ancient Greek and Roman amphora have all inspired aspects of my work. These elements inform my design language which expresses energy, movement and dimension. I use traditional and current metalsmithing techniques including hand piercing, wax carving, forging and fabrication to produce sensual statement pieces in sterling and argentium silver.
After receiving an undergraduate and masters degree in Sociology and working in this field I decided to change my career direction to pursue art and design. I earned a certificate in architectural space planning at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore and subsequently trained at MICA in metalsmithing. I am now an independent studio artist working in Kensington, Maryland.
