Artist Statement: 

Emotional loss, loss of memory, and loss of tangible objects are universally challenging life experiences. With rigid structures of steel strengthening fragile ceramic, this work explores the difficulties experienced letting go.

Artist Biography:

Rachel Andrea Davis is originally from Wisconsin and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Peck School of the Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. During this time, Davis collaborated with Michael Dale Bernard on ArtCycle Milwaukee, an outreach project bringing metalworking out of the studio and into the community. ArtCycle was awarded an undergraduate research grant, featured in the March 2016 issue of Art Jewelry Magazine, and included in Metalsmith Magazine's 2016 Exhibition in Print: Shifting Sites. She is now a second year graduate student and jewelry/metals/enameling instructor at Kent State University. Her work is currently on display in AdornForm|FormAdorn through the Baltimore Jewelry Center and Baltimore Clayworks.
